JFA,
I don't know if this is a java problem per se. If you're using Windows and
Microsoft Mouse -- it's an option in the mouse driver to hide the pointer
while typing. Simply uncheck the box and it should stay visible.

Thank you.
What do you mean by " uncheck the box " ?

Again,

If you are using windows and a microsoft mouse, you may have the option to
hide the pointer when typing text. When you open the Microsoft mouse properties
from the control panel, you might have a tab
called pointer options. Under that tab is a section called "visibility."
There is a box that says, "hide the pointer while typing." If it is checked
(selected), un-check it.
