The Java connection is a marketing ploy by Sun. They are justifiably
exploiting Java's good name.

Actually it is a sun's customized gnome desktop. Originally it shipped
with/on a version of SuSe Linux customized by Sun. They even marketed JDS
(java desktop system) as their brand of linux. But now they market Solaris
10 as coming with the Java Desktop, which is just their gnome desktop. So I
think the definition is now that it is their version of gnome.
