Hi Igor ,
It seems that this problem already reported to IBM's Java Support
,should be fixed in next release

Hello Matthew,
First of all make sure that you have installed all the updates
released for RHEL-AS-3.
Regarding your question :
Matthew Ling wrote:
I am using IBM SDK 1.4.2 (build cxia321420-20040626) with Red Hat EL
AS 3.0 (kernel version 2.4.21-15.ELsmp , gcc version 3.2.3 20030502)
. I had a few sporadic JVM crashes. All crashes happened inside the
same offset of module libjitc.so with signal 11 (i.e. segmentation
fault).
My questions are as follows
- Is SDK 1.4.2 certificated to run in Red Hat EL AS 3.0 since most
posting seems to be related SDK 1.4.1?
yes it is certified, Check the URL
http://www-106.ibm.com/developerworks/java/jdk/linux/tested.html
- Will LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.19 fix the problem?
May but, but this setting will make JVM to use Linux threads instead
of NPTL which is a new feature in RHEL3
- What is stable version of SDK for Red Hat EL AS 3.0?
The lastest GA version available on JIM site.
Thanks,
Matthew
One of the RH libraries got changed to eliminate several bugs. These
had been coded around in early 1.4.2 versions. As a result the IBM
1.4.2 did strange things on RH. If you update to the latest levels it
should fix your problem. |

downloaded the amd64 version of the SDK).
Running java works fine, but when I try to run javac, it dies horribly:
Unhandled exception
Type=GPF vmState=0x00000000
Target=2_20_20050224_1940_LHdSMr (Linux 2.6.8.tbx)
CPU=amd64 (4 logical CPUs) (0x7d558000 RAM)
(full core file attached). This is running on the amd64 build of debian
testing.
Is this a known problem? The sun 1.5 sdk (for amd64) works fine
Thanks

Hello Kolbus,
Can you please recheck the same with the latest JVM on 390. I don't
think that should be an issue. Incase you are still facing the same
problem could you please pass on the testcase to me so that I can
check the same at my end.
Thanks,
Rupesh.

Hi,
Could be be a result of noexec feature enabled on SLES 9 and RHEL 3
,recent versions of jvms were coded to handle this feature ,there fore
problem should
not be there in recent versions of IBM JVM 142
