Chis Smith here with IPINet. I've been a recruiter and I've used all
the boards--monster
is terriffic, reqblaster is fabulous, careerbuilder is good. I've
heard other recruiters
say the same thing--dice is great, monster and reqblaster are great,
careerbuilder has
funny commercials--all good resources.

But I want to try the newsgroups. Something different.

Got a job here for a JAVA developer.

Description:
Seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the role of Java
Developer that will be charged with responsibilities including:

Responsible for working with business analysts on implementing
functional requirements as application functionalities.
Responsible for design and implementation of both front-end and back-
end software components.
As needed, responsible for working with other developers across IT on
implementation of common frameworks and solutions.
Interact with QA personnel during system testing states of application
development...

I'll send you the full description when you write me. So comeon,
people, apply!

Oh yeah, my email...csmith100221 (AT) yahoo (DOT) com

Monster is terrific, reqblaster is terrific, so's Dice and
Careerbuilder--they all work great for recruiters and recruters like
all these sites.

Still looking for resumes like I said we're seeking a highly motivated
individual to fill the role of Java Developer that will responsible
for working with business analysts on implementing functional
requirements as application functionalities.

Java developers always needed. Please write: csmith100221 (AT) yahoo (DOT) com

Indeed not.

It is one of those "tools" that violated Kant's
Categorical Imperative.

If everyone uses ReqBlaster, the job of recruiting
becomes impossible for everyone.

Why?

Because ReqBlaster floods uninterested recipients
with uninteresting job ads in unwithstandable
quantities, even worse than already happens now.

After hundreds of mistargeted job ads, I just
finally exercise my right to be taken off their list
of victims. I'm sure all the other viable candidates
have done so, too.

Meanwhile, though, you have to ask yourself what
would lead a job ad poster to use _exactly_ the set
of newsgroups that I might have used to crosspost an
especially humorous response in
comp.lang.java.advocacy, none of which were good
targets for a "Java progammer wanted" ad.

I mean, are misc.misc or talk.bizarre known hotbeds
of Java programmers, or is the guy just stalking me?

[Hell, most of comp.lang.java.advocacy participants
are just C# or J++ zealots trying to dis Java to
each other.]

Hey, fellow, I'm "telecommute only" these days,
Tempe is just too nice to ever leave [another way of
saying I never intend to work another day in my
life, since no one sane would hire a skilled Java
programmer on that basis; that's okay, my expenses
are covered].

Where my resume sits is already well known.

xanthian.

Me? I sit on the big comfy couch, pretty much all
my waking hours any more.

"It is one of those "tools" that violated Kant's
Categorical Imperative."

Kant's Categorical Imperative isn't a scientific law like gravity. It
is a SUGGESTION, from a PHILOSOPHER, on how we SHOULD behave. And it
is more cited as DISPROVEN, rather than PROVEN.

For example, Kant's Categorical Imperative suggests that I should not
go to lunch today at Subway on 3rd Ave. Why? Because if I do,
everyone will. And if everyone does, the line at Subway on 3rd Ave
will be 8 billion people long.

His "imperative" suggests noone should use sites like Monster. Why?
Because if all recruiters use them, noone will be able to find the
ads. "Search 1 gadzillion tech jobs" is much more welcoming in the
candidate's eyes than the recuiters.

"Act is if everyone will do the same thing" does not mean "act as if
everyone will do the same thing, blindly, and ignore the numbers." If
a site is currently undercrowded, meaning it has tons of candidates
and fewer recrutiers, then it's the best bet right now.

Recruiters know which sites are overcrowded, and which ones aren't.
