I'm trying to install the Java runtime on the Tungsten T5 (and the generic
garnet OS5.4 simulator) without much success. I have tried posting this in
the palm forums without a response, so I thought I would cast the net wider.
Basically when I run an example that comes with the JVM, I am confronted
with a "Missing IBM JVM" message.

I have downloaded the run time (WEME571.zip) from the palmsource site and
unzipped it.

In the simulators I right click and choose install / database. Then I
navigate to the unzipped archive and choose J9JavaVMMidp20.prc and
JavaVMCheck_enUS.prc as per the instructions.

These appear in the install menu - however, no new icons are shown in the
home screen. No error messages are displayed at this point.

Then i install the golf tracker example using the same process the file is
(GolfScoreTracker.prc). This seems to install (an icon appears in the home
launcher screen).

However, when I try to launch the sample, I am confronted with the "Missing
IBM JVM" message.

I've tried hard reset, soft reset, restarting the simulators, rebooting all
to no effect. I've checked the heap and memory size (and tried setting them
to the values specified in the instructions and the maximum possible
values).

For what it is worth, the J9 runtime appears in the simulators' gremlins and
view databases menus.

What am I doing wrong?

TIA

Never mind. I have been struggling with this for over a week. Turns out
there are two JVM downloads - one for the simulator and one for actual
devices.

If you download the correct file it seems to work just fine.
